About

About this site

This site is run by residents of Ashington, West Sussex, to keep the village informed about new housing developments being proposed for our area.

What we do

We collect and explain in plain English what is being proposed, who is proposing it, where the site sits, and how it relates to the Neighbourhood Plan that the village voted for in March 2021.

We are not the parish council. We are not the district council. We are not affiliated with any developer. We are residents who want to make sure neighbours have access to clear, accurate information when planning applications are formally submitted - and a way to object effectively when the time comes.

Where our information comes from

Every fact on this site is drawn from publicly available documents - the Ashington Neighbourhood Plan, Ashington Parish Council consultation responses, Horsham District Council Local Plan documents, formal Local Plan Examination submissions, developer consultation materials. Each page lists its sources at the bottom.

If you spot a factual error, please tell us directly. Email hello@ashingtonsaysno.co.uk with the page and the correction, and we will fix it.

The on-site assistant

The "Ask a question" button at the bottom of every page connects to an AI assistant which has been given the same source documents. It will only answer questions about Ashington and the proposed developments, and it cites its sources just as the pages do. If a question goes beyond the documents, it will say so rather than guess.

Privacy

This site does not use third-party tracking. The only personal data we collect is your mobile number, if you sign up for SMS alerts. We use that number only to send the planned alerts and we never share it.

Important

This site is not a substitute for the formal planning process. To formally object to a planning application you must submit comments to Horsham District Council during the 21-day public-comment window after the application is published on their planning portal. We will tell you when that happens.
